Is there anything I can do to encourage faster hair growth?

so many people ask this, here is my answer.

I am a licensed cosmetologist with a managers and instructors license. I have trained numerous stylists and educated thousands of clients.

here are some facts that im sure will help.

1- if you have split ends get them cut off, not just a little, all of them. you have to start with a clean canvas otherwise it will never grow, i will explain this is detail as i go along.

2.- make sure you have your hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks. especially if you are growing it out. a trim should consist of 1/4 inch. Your hair grows about a 1/2 inch a month. It may not seem like it cause you probably have split ends but it does.

--- a split end keeps splitting. causes are as simple as tangles, brushing, styling, even wind damage. A split end is like having a rip in plastic wrap, it keeps ripping until its cut off. As your hair grows, the split keeps splitting and makes your hair look like its not growing- often, the split breaks faster than the hair grows making it look shorter as time goes by. this is why you have to get all of them cut off and keep them off! I promise you this is the most important part. just make sure you go to a stylist that you trust.

3- eat healthy foods, drink a lot of water so that you get the proper nutrients that promote health hair growth. eating jello works wonders too... also, take a daily vitamin. if you aren't getting adequate nutrients, your hair, skin and nails will tell all! Avoid fast food and soda as the nutrients aren't good ones and will rob your body of what it needs to be healthy.

4- rub your scalp often. this may sound funny but here is the science behind this. the old tale was to brush your hair 100 times a night.. brushing too often can lead to breakage. But, if you give yourself a scalp massage, you are doing the same thing.. a massage stimulates blood flow to the follicles in your scalp, the more blood flow the more hair growth.. dont believe me? how many of you reading this complain that your bangs grow the fastest?? Its because they get the most attention! They get curled, or pushed back off the face.. ( your stimulating blood flow making them grow! ) same can be said for people that wear glasses, hair tends to grow more behind the ears as the act of taking the glasses on and off- causing the glass arm to rub over and behind the ear ( stimulating blood flow!)

5- if you want but so not needed, you can try a mega vitamin shampoo such as bed head self absorbed. it a little drying on the hair but is loaded with vitamins which will promote hair growth. however, the above steps are the most effective! Is there anything I can do to encourage faster hair growth?
